A New Favorite - If Only Purchasing Was Easier

As a long time connoisseur of dry red wine who is making an effort to cut back in quantity, this has quickly become a new favorite red beverage. It’s not attempting to be an imitation of red wine, which I appreciate - but rather, it works As a substitute so well for me because it’s earthy, peppery, and has the nice dry, tart finish that I seek in my red wine. A lot of the appeal in drinking red wine for me, I have found since cutting back, is simply in the ritual of holding a wine glass of dark, red liquid that I can savor over the course of my evening and which leaves my tongue with a sense of dryness and spice. I would liken the flavor of the Ludlow Red to a delicious homemade Bloody Mary mix, but it is so much more rich in its depth.

Now for the disappointment: I’ve been disheartened by the purchasing process. For online purchases, it’s $20/bottle and an additional $12 for shipping! I have found free shipping only if purchasing over $100. I was thrilled to find that a local (Seattle) apothecary vendor is now trialing distribution and hurried over with the intent to purchase several bottles for the holidays, only to find they have chosen to double the price and sell them at $40/bottle! I find it to be outrageous and it will sadly impede upon my future purchasing of this product. I will hope for improvements to pricing and distribution moving forward, as it’s truly an enjoyable beverage for me.

Elixir of the gods

I love, love this stuff. It has the complexity of red wine without the calories or hangover
